The revival of the much neglected Brückstrasse area has given new impetus to the City Centre. The Brückstrasse has dressed itself up and no longer deserves its popular name of "Rue de French Fries". It is now a modern shopping area for young people with trendy hair stylists, stylish sportswear boutiques and specialists shops, rapidly gaining a reputation for the unusual.

The Kampstrasse has for years been overshadowed by the Osten- and Westenhellweg which runs parallel. But already the city planners envisage this street to become a magnificent boulevard and once the tram lines have been banished underground an idyllic watercourse will set the scene. The many specialists shops which are based along the Kampstraße are already looking forward to that day.
