Dortmund? Of course, Borussia Dortmund Football Club! The first German club to win the Champions League is the most important public relations factor world wide for the City of Dortmund. There are fan clubs of Borussia Dortmund in Shanghai and in Gelsenkirchen, and even in New York there is a limousine driving around with a BVB09 number plate. With so much fame for football players it is easily forgotten that sporting Dortmund has a lot more to offer. The Olympic Training Centre for example looks after 500 athletes, the Dortmund Chess Meeting is one of the three most important international chess tournaments, and Dortmund has seen more world championships than any other city in Germany. And there will be
two more soon, the World Figure Skating Championships in 2004 and the World Football Championships in 2006.
