St. Petri Church (protestant) A three-bay hall church dating from the 14th century. Destroyed during the 2nd World War, the church was rebuilt from 1954 to 1967, with the octagonal tower added on in 1981. The carved altar from the Antwerp Lukas guild (1521) is known as the "Golden Miracle of Dortmund". 633 gold-painted carved oak figures depict 30 scenes from the Easter story. The fountain sculpture in front of the church has a height of four metres and was designed by Walter Hellenthal. |
